*Uwagboe Ogieva And Edo National Flag*

Benin City, Edo state of Nigeria. My father was none teaching staff
of University of Benin who after serving the government, pensioned in
the University. Mother was a trader at ekiosa market in Benin City.
Did my primary and secondary school in Benin City but had tertiary
education in Anambra state in Banking and Finance and a Master in
software engineering in Spain. President and founder of Oseghe Edo
Diaspora Association. Initiator of Great Benin Origins Organisation.
General Coordinator of Edo national Congress. Director of Media
National Youth Council Of Nigeria Europe Chapter. CEO OWAG Nigeria
Limited. Author of Book: “Genesis of Great Benin Origins”.
Creator of Edo national Flag, Master, Creator and Lecturer of
Edonaze.blogspot.com. Freelance writer of many online articles and
paper on Nigeria, Edo politics, history, culture and religion. A
European licenced and certified software expert currently based in
Barcelona Spain with a wife and three children.
Grew passion for Edo nationalism over time after raised consciousness from reading lots of afrocentric books from great pan African scholars and writers like John Henry Clarke, Cheikh Anta Diop, Moleku Asante, Dr Ben, Naiwu Osahon, Chinweizu, Dr. Amos, Kwame Nkrumah and many other African American scholars earlier years in Europe.
I designed and published
Edo national flag used in many socio media platforms. The flag was
designed 2008, when just completed professional graphic course in
Barcelona, Spain. Motivation came in two ways that resulted creating
an Edo national flag: There was time when ethnic nationalities were
calling for restructuring of Nigeria to regional authonomy where
ethnic nationalities can be allow their state or regional authonomy.
Yoruba, oduduwa nation had a flag, Igbo had biafra flag and even
ijaws not upto Edo people population presented a flag of statehood.
Edo people had no common flag representing Edo nation and state.
When checked through google search,
before creating Edo national flag, midwestern flag of Nigeria came
up, looking typical of Nigeria flag. The Benin palace flag sometimes
came up basically representing the palace of Oba of Benin. Another
flag that came up was old Benin Kingdom flag in red colour with image
of two person, one cutting the head of another in white colour. That
flag look to me fit as military flag. Thought a flag ought to
represent a people's nation and culture in more classic way and
design.
As proud Edo man who have led various pan african
groups, Associations, events and movements, was very keen designing a
flag to represent, most prestigious Edo culture, people and tradition
in a flag that reflect uniqueness of Great Benin Kingdom and nation
in its diverties for all to embrace both home and in diaspora cut
across Edoid clans and regions. Coat of arms, national anthem and
emblem were created. Edo language blogspot was constructed to make
easy learning and practice of Edo language free online with and
andriod app to be download and self install –Edonaze -

Edo red and
white colors and icons were applied designing now Edo national flag.
The flag had red colour, white and green colour. Head of queen idia
n'iye Esigie popularly known as festac head, Ada and Eben. Three
stars were added representing Greatness of the great Benin Kingdom
past and heroic archievements, present surviving monarchy, and
promising future of Great Benin descendants aspirations and hope. The
red colour signify efforts and blood of Edo heros passed who
sacrificed for the kingdom and nation, white color means a peaceful
nations despite it's diversities remain most peaceful nation in
Nigeria. Green curve color in the flag refer to it's geography,
vegetation, fertile land and rich in natural resources. “Ada” and
“eben” depicted royal symbols of Edo nation in relation with its
clans and military might.
Bellow are few reference of

media platforms:

All efforts
made to get palace and state government recognition at time the flag
was created was unsuccessful. Wrote the governor's house and palace
many times but no response. Despite not being able to get Edo state
government attention on proper recognition of designed Edo national
flag now being used in many Edo websites, Associations, political
parties, individuals and companies, the flag have remain trending,
most loved, shared and used flag among Edo people world wide. Many
people have been spreading and using the flag across socio media
platforms, in diaspora associations. Same flag was used on Edo state
government website and publication including present on wikipedia
internet dictionary as Edo state flag.
Spain is one country where many
Nigerians enter through desert route through morrocow. Though not an
English speaking country, Nigerian youths have been able to survive
and prospered in various fields of endeavour.
Of course there
was a time when human trafficking was rampant, but these have reduce
over the years as both state and federal government of Nigeria in
collaborate with Spanish authority made positive engagement in
respect.
It's good to come Europe for study, work and tourism
when mean are there. Passing through Sahara desert to Spain is a
death trap, difficult and risky. True many Nigerians have risk there
lives and succeeded in making it but thousands have also lost their
lives. Government should assist it's citizens to have proper travel
process allowing for safer ways to travel abroad. Support those who
repatriated or return home because couldn't cross the Mediterranean
sea to Spain or Italy
